One last Thing

I know we all worked so hard to complete this project, so I say CONGRATULATIONS TO US ALL!!!

I learned so much from each site that we had to visit and it would be difficult to choose only a few sites of interest to me. I most recently viewed Animoto to make a video and I must say that my children made fun of me because I got so excited about the ease of the process, and it was so much fun! I also liked learning about the different social media's available to chat and to receive informative material.

I learned that although I am fearful of technology, with a little bit of time and a lot of practice, I too can be successful with the many different places to search and learn from pertaining to technology. Some students such as myself, are non-traditional and of whom have not used technology much, so the only thing I could ask for as a change for some of our future students, is that maybe the in-class leason slows down a bit. I concentrate so hard during the class that I leave with a Tylenol in hand and the water fountain in my sights. I try to tune out the noices around me to put all of my brain power into the lesson.

I enjoyed this class and now feel that I can start inside of a classroom with the knowledge that the computer can be my friend and a helpful one at that. I only wish that we had a hard copy of some of the information to put away for future.

Thing 23

The site below is a link to another 23 Things site that list's several things that we worked on, however many of the things are different and I feel not as detailed as ours. Yes, we had many sites to review and become a member of, but we learned a lot about the resources available to us as future teachers, so thank you!

Creative Commons is helpful in reminding us as teachers what we need to do, or not do, to get in trouble by using the work of someone else. I know if I created a piece of work and someone else took it without permission, I too would be unhappy.

Thing 22

I chose Special Education as one binder because it is my major. I also chose Technology, because I have learned that the web is full of so many important things for teachers to gain knowledge from. I also chose Reading/Language Arts because that is a subject of interest to me and my career choice. I could see me using this inside the classroom or even as a student to keep all of my information organized in one spot and not filling up my favorites icon. The link below will take you to one of my binder pages.

Thing 21

I really enjoyed making this video. When I first  read what the assignment was, I was pretty scared! I created a video with some old family photos from my computer and added a Christmas song to go on it for the up coming holiday season. This is something I could see me using in my class, for special occasions or just to play with. Enjoy the video!

Thing 19

I had no idea that so many social media's had been created to share, socialize and inform others with something that is so much fun to "play" on. Teacher Pop is a nice site that will allow so many people in the same career, to share ideas with others. I also liked Teacher Librarian Ning because teachers can share their lesson plan ideas for so many books, and as a future teacher looking into a reading class for special education, this would be great! This is a site that I would use in the future. The social site I follow the most is of course Facebook. However as a future teacher, Facebook would be very limiting to receiving helpful ideas for lessons.

Thing 20

This is a link to my youtube page that will show you a video I created with my children for a math project. We used this site to share our ideas with or classmates and other fellow teachers. Using this site will assist many teachers and students in learning how to search for informative videos on how to accomplish many tasks within the classroom.

Thing 18

I think it would be fun to use the facebook with parent permission inside the classroom. It would be a quick and easy way to learn about your child's day and all of the activities they are doing. Facebook is used by teachers, students, businesses and so many other people. Resources on this site are limitless.

Thing 17

I enjoyed visiting the Brain Pop site because it offered so many resources for the student and the teacher to use inside the classroom. They could be used as a lesson or even as a source for extra help on specific lessons. Brain Pop offered ideas for all subject areas.

Thing 16

I chose to use the iGoogle start page because it was quick and easy to set-up and use. It offered so many things that I could have on my page and it even included a to-do-list and a calendar. I also liked the Windows Live Calendar because I could also set it up the way I wanted to, and that would include reminders. I tried to investigate the backpack site, however upon finding out that they charge you to use their tool, I moved on! Out of all of the tools I looked into, I liked the iGoogle the best because it offered everything I would need to stay organized as a student or as a teacher from one page.
